Propose a method for data lake access from generic IDA systems
The “Data Lake as a Service” system provides access to the ESCAPE Data Lake. However, it is currently only (??) deployed at CERN, and requires infrastructure that may not be available in all locations.
The aim with this ticket is to propose a generic method of accessing the Data Lake. That is, provides functionality broadly equivalent to the existing DLaaS, but can be used regardless of where the IDA service is deployed. In the ideal case, we can provide access to the Data Lake without requiring any particular effort on behalf of the IDA service provider (for example, this means we can access the Data Lake from a notebook running on MyBinder). In the case where some support from the IDA service provide is required, we should document that, and engage with SKAO and JIVE (who are currently providing BinderHub services for ESAP) to see whether they regarding implementing this service as practical.
