Make release

Jakob Maljaars requested to merge make-release into master

Some readme updates and version updates. The only thing which is somewhat ugly is that I haven't found a way for referencing that works both in the GitLab markdown viewer and in the generated doxygen pages.

Making a release should be a matter of generating a tag and adding a couple of notes/features.
