AST-1256 Remove unused variable

Malcolm MacLeod requested to merge ast-1256-interpolate-remove-unused-variable into master

Variable is unused and therefore shouldn't be in the code. As this variable is using casacore types that are about to be changed for XTensor types its cleaner to remove this first ahead of the changes.
